Students of Augustine University, Ilara-Epe, have been formally received as Associate Members of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary Association.
The induction ceremony, held on Sunday, August 17 2025, at the Sacred Heart Retreat Centre in Agbowa, Ikorodu, was organised by the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos.
The event, traditionally reserved for married Catholic adults who have enthroned the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts in their homes, also includes a reception ceremony for unmarried Catholic youths aged 18 and above. The Augustine University students were admitted under this category and invested with blessed badges after pledging to uphold the Association’s constitution.
This marks the second time Augustine University students have taken part in the Archdiocesan Solemn Admission and Reception, with support from the Epe Deanery. The university remains the first Catholic tertiary institution to participate in the annual ceremony, a milestone celebrated across the Archdiocese.
In 2024, the Archbishop of Lagos and Proprietor of Augustine University, Most Rev. (Dr.) Alfred Adewale Martins personally officiated the event, highlighting the institution’s growing role in promoting Catholic faith and devotion at the university level.
