A distinguished alumnus of Augustine University, Ilara-Epe, Dr David Nwachukwu, has completed his PhD in Medical Microbiology at the University of Port Harcourt.
Dr Nwachukwu, a member of the university’s pioneer undergraduate cohort, graduated in 2019 from the Department of Biological Sciences, where he served as valedictorian. He currently lectures at the Basic Sciences Unit of Pamo University of Medical Sciences, Port Harcourt, where he also serves as Examinations and Records Officer and Assistant to the Unit Coordinator.
He is also the founder of Nwachukwu ScholarSync Services, an academic support consultancy for students and professionals.
Reflecting on his academic journey, Dr Nwachukwu credited Augustine University for laying the foundation of his research and teaching career. He said the mentorship and close supervision he received as a student helped shape his passion for microbiology and prepared him for the rigours of postgraduate study.
Dr Nwachukwu obtained his BSc in Microbiology from Augustine University (2015–2019), his MSc in Pathogenic Microbiology and Biotechnology, and his PhD in Medical Microbiology from the University of Port Harcourt, completing both postgraduate degrees within three years.
He expressed gratitude to his mentors, including Prof. I. O. Okonko of the University of Port Harcourt and Prof. Adesola Ajayi of Augustine University, for their guidance.
Dr Nwachukwu encouraged current students to remain focused and diligent, advising them that “nothing surpasses the power of hard work, determination, and perseverance.”
