The Federal Government has announced that the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE), conducted by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and the National Examinations Council (NECO), will transition from being administered within schools to Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres.
According to the Federal Government, private and public CBT centres will be used for the 2026 examinations. Dr. Tunji Alausa, Minister of Education, revealed this while supervising a pilot CBT SSCE conducted by the National Examinations Council at Sascon International School, Mataima, Abuja, on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. The Minister further noted that all essays and examinations will be administered on a computer-based platform.
