Five lecturers from Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) have been listed among the world’s top scientists in the 2025–2026 AD Scientific Index Rankings.
The AD Scientific Index is a global platform that evaluates researchers and institutions based on research output, citations, and academic impact. The ranking provides international visibility and recognition for outstanding scientists.
Leading the COOU list is Dr Johnbosco C. Egbueri of the Department of Earth Sciences, followed by Dr Chukwunonso Ekesiobi of Economics and Econometrics, Professor J.C. Ifemeje of Biochemistry, Professor Ifeanyichukwu Ezebialu of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Professor Chidozie Chukwuemeka Nwobi-Okoye of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering.
Reacting to the announcement, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kate Azuka Omenugha, described the recognition as evidence of COOU’s growing research profile under her administration’s 3V Agenda — Values, Viability, and Visibility.
She said the recognition underscores the University’s commitment to advancing research excellence and innovation in line with its motto, “Education for Development.”
Professor Omenugha congratulated the honourees and encouraged staff and students to emulate their dedication as the University prepares for its annual awards ceremony celebrating academic excellence.
