The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi (FUTIA), Akwa Ibom State, Professor Leo Daniel, has received an Award for Excellence in Leadership from the Faculty of Education, University of Uyo.
The award was presented during the 12th Annual National Conference on Education, held on Saturday at the Onyema Ugochukwu Auditorium, University of Uyo, with the theme “Bridging Educational Gaps through Digital Technology.”
According to the Faculty, the honour recognised Professor Daniel’s outstanding leadership and contributions to the development of the university system and education in Akwa Ibom State and beyond.
The award was presented by the Chairman of the Committee of Deans at the University of Uyo, Professor Eduwem, on behalf of the faculty.
Represented by the University Librarian, Professor Philip Akor, the FUTIA Vice-Chancellor expressed appreciation to the organisers, pledging continued commitment to advancing academic excellence and promoting community and national development.
Professor Daniel, who is Nigeria’s first Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics, said FUTIA remains dedicated to using science and technology to drive sustainable growth.
The event, which featured keynote addresses, paper presentations, and the unveiling of the 2025 Faculty Journal, drew participants from within and outside the university community.
