FUTMINNA Unveils Smart Wi-Fi Booster System

Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUT Minna) researchers formally presents innovative product known as CONNECTPLUS to VC Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta

Researchers at the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA), have launched a new smart device called CONNECTPLUS, designed to enhance internet connectivity on campuses and in offices. The product was officially presented to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, on July 8, 2025.

A team led by Prof. Olatomiwa Lanre Joseph created a project called CONNECTPLUS during a hands-on innovation workshop at Innov8 Hub in Abuja. The workshop focused on applying practical research to address real-world problems in schools and communities. Dr Taliha Abiodun Folorunso, from the Mechatronics Department, explained that CONNECTPLUS utilises artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance Wi-Fi signals. It studies how people use the internet and adjusts itself to give fast, stable, and energy-saving internet service. Prof. Kuta praised the team for their outstanding work, stating that the project demonstrates FUTMINNA’s leadership in addressing today’s problems. He also promised full support to help make CONNECTPLUS available not only on the university campus, but also in other locations.
