TETFund Praises FUT Minna for Research Progress

The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) teams, during a two-day monitoring visit to the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUT Minna)

From July 7 to 8, 2025, a team from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) visited the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUT Minna) to assess the progress of two research projects funded in 2021. The team was led by Prof. Lawal Bilbis, who praised the university for doing quality research and making clear presentations. He encouraged FUT Minna to go beyond just writing research papers and start turning their ideas into real products that people can use.

Prof. Bilbis also shared that TETFund is planning to establish a special fund to assist researchers in developing samples of their products (called prototypes) and launching businesses based on their research. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, thanked the team and stated that the university is developing a Research and Innovation Park to support product-based research. The two research projects reviewed focused on tracking carbon footprints and cleaning oil-polluted environments using new technologies. The team ended the visit with praises for FUT Minna’s strong research culture.
