Global education professionals have praised the Federal Government of Nigeria for approving and unveiling a future-ready curriculum for basic and senior secondary schools.
They described the reform as a landmark step that modernises subject offerings, balances learning loads, and integrates key 21st-century competencies such as artificial intelligence, coding, robotics, digital technologies, media literacy, entrepreneurship, and citizenship education.
Monday Anyairo, Global President of World Innovators University, stated that the curriculum aligns Nigeria’s education system with the demands of a rapidly changing economy.
He noted that by emphasising digital competence, problem solving, entrepreneurship, and civic literacy, the policy prepares Nigerian students for global competitiveness.
He explained that the curriculum introduces digital literacy in upper primary and progresses to programming, data awareness, AI, and cybersecurity themes in secondary school, while also promoting national cohesion, heritage studies, and ethics.
Similarly, Ashok K. Gupta, Provost of World Innovators University, said effective implementation will depend on adequately equipping teachers.
He disclosed that the university’s institute will provide teacher training, low-cost learning resources, curriculum-aligned micro-credentials, and research support ahead of the 2025/2026 rollout.
Gupta further stated that the institution is ready to partner with federal and state governments, education boards, NGOs, and teacher training colleges to translate the policy into classroom impact.
