Oba David Sunday Awe Akingbade of Ilupeju-Ekiti supports FUOYE’s Nursing Institute, Donates Official Vehicle
The Apeju of Ilupeju-Ekiti, His Royal Majesty Oba David Sunday Awe Akingbade, has presented a Toyota Camry to the Director of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti’s (FUOYE) newly established Institute for Nursing Science. The ceremony, held at the royal palace, marks a show of community support ahead of the institute’s January 2026 academic launch.
Oba Akingbade described the donation as part of the community’s “own little corporate social responsibility,” noting the town’s growing commercial prominence and its strong commitment to education. “The car, and all facilities for the takeoff of the school, were purchased by the sons and daughters of Ilupeju,” he said, adding that the gesture reflects the traditional council’s readiness to collaborate with the university on future initiatives.
The Institute, under the FUOYE Centre for Continuing Education, will offer a three-year BNSc for holders of Registered Nursing certificates and a one-year top-up for HND Nursing graduates.
In response, the institute’s Director, Prof Adelani Tijani, thanked the Oba and his council, describing the gift as a morale booster for staff and a catalyst for the institute’s success.
Community leaders hailed the gesture as evidence of Ilupeju’s commitment to educational development and its potential to attract further partnerships.
