The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has raised questions about the UTME 2025 result of Chinedu Christian Okeke, who scored the highest mark of 375. JAMB suspects something is wrong and is investigating possible foul play.
JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, stated that Okeke had already been admitted to study medicine at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), for the 2024 academic year. This means he cannot retake the UTME as a new candidate, according to the law.
Also, JAMB discovered that Okeke used different state information, claiming to be from Anambra in one record and Lagos in another. JAMB believes Okeke may have taken the examination on behalf of someone else. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s spokesperson, said no student is allowed to register twice. Okeke applied to study Mechanical Engineering at UNILAG. While the investigation continues, JAMB states that it will not tolerate cheating in the system, regardless of who the top scorers are.
