Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has pledged full support as the Federal Government prepares to relaunch the National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme.
He gave the assurance while receiving Dr Yetunde Adeniji, Senior Special Assistant to the President on School Feeding, and officials of the Abdullahi Mahmood Foundation (AMF) during a courtesy visit to Government House, Dutse.
Namadi described the initiative as vital to the Renewed Hope Agenda, citing its impact on education, nutrition, and the economy. He noted that Jigawa had extended school feeding beyond the national benchmark by covering pupils in primaries four to six, and has already budgeted for the programme in 2025 and 2026.
“This is an all-encompassing programme that benefits children, farmers, cooks, and local communities. Jigawa is ready to partner with the federal government to revive it,” the governor said. Dr Adeniji commended Jigawa’s investment in education, assuring the state would be among the first to benefit when the programme resumes.
