The Kano State Government has allocated 31.5% of its 2025 budget to improve education in the state. The Commissioner for Education, Dr Ali Haruna Makoda, revealed this, stating that the move is part of a plan to achieve quality education through proper planning and execution.

As part of efforts to boost the education sector, the government, in partnership with the PLANE project, has launched a 5-day workshop to develop a Medium-Term Sector Strategy (MTSS) for the years 2026-2028. The workshop brings together key players from important ministries, development partners, and civil society groups. The goal is to develop a comprehensive plan that will foster long-term improvements in the education system.

Dr Makoda urged participants to take the workshop seriously and apply what they learn. Additionally, Haladu Mohammed, the Governor’s Technical Adviser on Education Reforms, stated that the strategy will address the needs of the people and enhance learning across the state. This step confirms Kano’s dedication to quality education.
