The Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) has introduced a new programme to help girls who dropped out of school in Kogi State return to learning.
Called the Second Chance Education Programme, it offers academic opportunities, vocational training, and life skills for disadvantaged girls and young women across the state.
The programme was officially launched in Kabba during a stakeholder forum attended by community leaders, educators, parents, and government officials.
Speaking at the event, AGILE’s Deputy Project Coordinator in Kogi, Aminat Suleiman, said many girls were forced out of school by poverty, early marriage, or family duties. She explained that the initiative would allow them to either re-enrol in school or learn vocational skills to become self-reliant.
This initiative is expected to restore hope for thousands of adolescent girls in Kogi, providing them with the opportunity to build brighter futures through education and empowerment.
