The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has launched a unified Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) portal to standardise data management across polytechnics and technical institutions in Nigeria.
The initiative was announced in Kaduna on Tuesday in a statement by Mrs Fatima Abubakar, Head of Media and Publicity at NBTE.
NBTE Executive Secretary, Prof Idris Bugaje, said the platform would improve transparency, accountability, and efficiency while advancing the digitalisation of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system.
The Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, represented by the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Ahmad, unveiled the portal and directed all polytechnics and technical institutions to complete registration by December. He stressed that participation was mandatory to ensure uniform data management nationwide.
Dr Babangida Albaba, Technical Assistant to the Executive Secretary, outlined the portal’s features, including enhanced security, simplified registration, and seamless onboarding.
While some participants expressed concerns about operational costs and data security, NBTE assured institutions of full technical support and strict adherence to data protection standards.
