A new bill has been presented to establish the Federal College of Nursing and Midwifery in Ikosu-Moba, Ekiti State. The bill, tagged HB. 782 (2025), aims to set up a federal school that will train nurses, midwives, and other health professionals.
If approved, the college will be built in Ikosu, Moba Local Government Area, a community that currently has no federal higher institution. Lawmakers say the move will close the education gap and give young people in Ekiti North Federal Constituency II better access to health education.
The proposed college is also expected to improve healthcare delivery across Ekiti by producing skilled workers for hospitals and rural health centres.
Supporters of the bill believe it will not only raise the standard of medical care but also create jobs, boost local businesses, and drive development in the area.
