Four students of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) have received scholarships from the Graceland Foundation for Human Development to support their studies during the 2024/2025 academic session.
The scholarship, awarded to students from disadvantaged backgrounds, is part of the foundation’s efforts to improve access to higher education through financial support. Professor Oluwole Akinnagbe, Executive Director of the foundation, stated that the initiative targets students who demonstrate academic excellence and good character but face financial challenges.
The beneficiaries are Atanda Oluwatimileyin (400 level), Omoniyi Israel (300 level), Omotayo Joyce (500 level), and Sesan Faith (200 level), all of whom are drawn from various departments in agriculture and information technology.
Speaking during the presentation, FUTA Vice Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji, represented by Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics, Professor Timothy Amos, commended the foundation’s intervention and noted that the rising cost of education has made such support increasingly essential. She urged other stakeholders to support initiatives like the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).
Vice Chairman of the foundation, Alhaji Yusuf Abidakun, stated that the number of recipients had increased this year in response to growing needs and reiterated the foundation’s commitment to supporting students’ education.
