The Niger State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has announced that all public and private schools in the state will officially resume for the 2025/2026 academic session on 22 September.
In a circular dated 10 August and signed by the Permanent Secretary, Hajiya Aishatu Nuhu Yarwa, the ministry said the decision aligns with the Federal Ministry of Education’s approved school calendar.
It warned that some private schools had already resumed ahead of the official date and cautioned that any institution reopening before 22 September would be shut down.
“Failure to comply with this directive will result in appropriate sanctions,” the circular stated.
Hajiya Yarwa urged school operators to adhere to the approved calendar, saying the measure was aimed at ensuring uniformity in academic activities and compliance with national standards. She added that monitoring teams would be deployed to enforce the directive across the state.
