The National Universities Commission (NUC) has warned universities and affiliate institutions to steer clear of paid training and consultancy services offered by private firms for accreditation purposes.
In a statement on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, signed by Mrs Franca Chukwuonwo, Acting Director of Public Affairs, the commission stressed that such programmes are neither organised nor endorsed by the NUC and have no influence on accreditation outcomes.
“The NUC remains committed to ensuring a transparent and credible accreditation process,” the statement read, urging institutions to rely solely on official guidelines and communications from the commission.
The caution coincided with a two-day webinar organised by Kleandata Konsult, a private firm, titled “Harnessing Institutional Digital and Human Resources for Successful NUC Accreditation Exercise.” The programme, which charged participants N20,000 each, targeted vice-chancellors, directors of academic planning, and university librarians.
While the firm claimed the training would help institutions streamline processes and secure full accreditation, the NUC made it clear that such services are unnecessary and irrelevant to official assessments.
