Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, has assured that public schools will resume for the 2025/2026 academic session with upgraded infrastructure and strengthened educational policies.
Arigbabu announced on Wednesday during a two-day enrolment campaign in the Egba and Yewa regions. He highlighted that classrooms, laboratories, and libraries had undergone extensive rehabilitation over the holidays, with modern equipment and new furniture provided to create a conducive learning environment.
The Commissioner encouraged parents of children with disabilities to register their children in any of the state’s five Special Needs Schools, assuring them that adequate facilities have been put in place for inclusive education.
Arigbabu noted that the enrolment drive had led to increased student registrations under the state’s free education initiative. He emphasised that no child should be left out of school during the academic session.
Officials, including the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Olalekan Ifede, and the Education Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Oluwatosin Oloko, reiterated that schools are prohibited from charging fees or levies. Local traditional leaders and parents’ representatives commended the government for its reforms and pledged continued support for the initiative.
