Prime Suspect in Taraba Student Death Found Dead

The body of Emmanuel Kefas, the prime suspect in the death of Comfort Jimtop, a 100-level Mass Communication student at Taraba State University, has been discovered in Tudiri, Ardo-Kola Local Government Area. Police confirmed the discovery on Saturday, a day after Kefas was found dead under unclear circumstances.

James Lashen, spokesperson for the Taraba State Police Command, said a Tecno Android phone was recovered beside the body. Investigators reportedly found a photograph of Kefas with Jimtop on the device, suggesting a possible romantic link between the two.

Kefas’s body has been transferred to the Federal Medical Centre in Jalingo for an autopsy, and authorities are working with his family to confirm his identity. It is not yet known whether his death was suicide, homicide, or accidental.

Jimtop’s death had sparked protests across the university and from civil society groups demanding justice. With Kefas now dead, investigators face fresh uncertainty, and students and residents are calling for a thorough and transparent inquiry into both deaths.
