The Schlumberger Foundation has announced the 2026 Faculty for the Future Fellowship, a programme offering up to $50,000 annually to female scholars from developing and emerging countries pursuing PhD or post-doctoral research in STEM at leading universities abroad.
Applications are open until November 7, 2025, with reference letters due by November 14, 2025.
The fellowship seeks to address the underrepresentation of women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in low and middle-income nations. It is awarded to women with exceptional academic records who demonstrate leadership potential and a strong commitment to advancing STEM in their home countries.
Eligible applicants must be female citizens of a developing or emerging economy, not hold dual citizenship with a developed country, and be enrolled in or applying to a PhD or post-doctoral programme abroad. Candidates must also commit to returning home after their studies to contribute to research, teaching, policy-making, or STEM entrepreneurship.
The award provides up to $50,000 per year for PhD candidates and $40,000 for post-doctoral researchers, with renewals available until the programme is completed. In addition to financial support, fellows join a global network of over 860 women from more than 90 countries who have benefited from the initiative since its inception.
Applications, including academic transcripts, references, proof of admission, and a detailed research proposal, must be submitted through the Faculty for the Future online portal.
