The Head of School at Abraham Lincoln American Academy, Mrs Jessica McAllister, has called on Nigerian parents to be more deliberate in providing their children with both education and a moral upbringing.
She said children often behave based on what they see and learn from their parents, whether knowingly or unknowingly.
McAllister made the statement during the school’s graduation ceremony held on Saturday at its Victoria Island campus in Lagos.
“Whatever you do around your children is a form of training. They turn out based on what you expose them to,” she said.
The school manager emphasised the significance of parents and teachers in influencing the young ones to make better life choices.
“There is no neutrality. It is either they move forward or backwards,” McAllister reiterated.
Furthermore, Emmanuella Imansuangbon, the school’s president, stated that the graduates had been trained for a brighter future.
“Named after Abraham Lincoln, one of the greatest past presidents of the United States, we inculcate and instil values of greatness in our pupils in this school,” Imansuangbon stated.
