TETFund to Power 18 Tertiary Institutions with Mini Grids

The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has announced that 18 tertiary institutions across Nigeria will benefit from its newly approved mini grid power project under the 2025 intervention cycle.

A total of N70 billion has been allocated for the initiative, which aims to provide a stable and renewable electricity supply to campuses.

Speaking in Ilorin, Kwara State, at a town hall meeting with stakeholders from beneficiary institutions and host communities in the North-Central, TETFund Board of Trustees member, Engr. Nurudeen Adeyemi said the project would tackle one of the most pressing challenges facing higher institutions, which is unreliable and costly electricity.

“This bold step will ensure a stable, cost-effective and renewable electricity supply to campuses, thereby reducing operational costs and enhancing research and learning,” Adeyemi stated.
