Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund)

The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has trained 50 young people and women in Bauchi State on how to raise broiler chickens for business. The training was held at the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi, under its Centre of Excellence for Integrated Farming Systems.

Dr Abdullahi Muhammad, the Centre’s director, said the 5-day training will help participants start poultry farming and earn money quickly, as broiler chickens are ready for sale in just eight weeks. He said that many youths in the region are job seekers, and this training can help them become job creators.

Mr Shamsu Abdu, from the Mass Communication Department, praised the programme, saying it is part of the school’s efforts to support the community. Dr Musa Adamu from the World Bank’s livestock project also urged the youths to take the opportunity seriously, as livestock farming can boost the economy in the region.
