Claretian University of Nigeria, Nekede, has promoted three senior academics — Rev. Fr. John Ezenwankwor, Rev. Fr. Polycap Ugwu, and Rev. Fr. Bernard Ukwuegbu — to the rank of Professor.
The promotions, approved by the university’s Appointments and Promotions Committee, mark a milestone in the institution’s efforts to strengthen its academic and research profile. Prof. Ezenwankwor, a scholar in Philosophy of Law and Jurisprudence, has taught at Imo State Polytechnic and the Federal University of Technology, Owerri. His works on legal paternalism and the offence principle have appeared in several international journals.
Prof. Ugwu, an expert in Ethical Philosophy, focuses his research on global immigration ethics. Since joining Claretian University, he has served as Dean of Humanities and Head of the Department of Philosophy, mentoring numerous students and publishing widely.
Prof. Ukwuegbu, a specialist in Biblical Theology, has combined Philosophy of Religion with theological research and taught for many years in the Department of General Studies.
Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Wenceslaus Madu, described the promotions as a “proud moment” for the university, noting that they reflect its growing reputation for excellence in teaching, research, and community service.
He commended the Appointments and Promotions Committee, chaired by Prof. Julian Osuji, for its professionalism and pledged continued support for academic development at the institution.
