The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Muhammed Idris, has explained that President Bola Tinubu established the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) to ensure that no Nigerian child is denied higher education due to financial constraints.
Speaking at a town hall meeting in Ibadan on Monday, Idris said Nigeria has struggled with weak human development for years, and Tinubu resolved to change that. He noted that more than 5,000 students at the University of Ibadan have already benefited from the loan scheme.
The minister, represented by Mr. Moses Oyelade, added that the initiative is part of Tinubu’s broader reforms aimed at improving opportunities for young people and building a stronger future for the country.
The event, organised by the Ministry of Information, was aimed at sharing the midterm achievements of the current administration. Experts at the meeting also praised Tinubu’s economic policies, describing them as steps towards sustainable growth.
