As part of the activities marking its 50th Anniversary celebrations, the University of Port Harcourt will confer an Honorary Doctor of Science Degree (DSc Honoris Causa) on the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, DSSRS. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Owunari Abraham Georgewill, made this announcement during the formal presentation of the conferment letter to the Honourable Minister at his Abuja residence on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.
According to Professor Georgewill, the official conferment ceremony will take place on July 26, 2025, during the grand finale of the University’s 50th Anniversary celebration. The University Senate unanimously approved the decision to honour Mr. Wike in recognition of his distinguished track record in public service, visionary leadership, and significant contributions to the development of the University and the Rivers region at large.
