UPWA School Celebrates International Day, Kenyan Group Takes First Place

UPWA School Students Celebrates International Day

Students of the school run by the University of Port Harcourt Women Association (UPWA) thrilled parents, staff, and guests during this year’s International Day celebration by showcasing national anthems, traditional foods, dances, attire, and languages from various countries. This year’s event saw the Kenyan group take first place, with Argentina and South Korea coming in second and third, respectively. Winners received cash prizes in a bid to promote creativity, confidence, and friendly competition among the children.

The school, founded by UPWA, is dedicated to cultivating globally minded future leaders. Speaking at the event, UPWA President Prof. Udeme Georgewill said the International Day celebration was introduced to help pupils understand world cultures, build unity, and express themselves confidently. The colourful event ended with excitement and renewed calls for more support to help educate and raise future leaders through cultural exposure and learning.
