A total of 184 students of Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, Kogi State, have received their full tuition payments through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND). The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abdulrahman Asipita Salawu, made this announcement during the university’s first Student Representative Council (SRC) inauguration.
He confirmed that each student got their payment completely, without any issues. The Vice-Chancellor praised the Federal Government for introducing NELFUND, saying it would help many students afford their education and focus better on their studies. The University Bursar, Mr. John Alaji, also confirmed that all 184 students had received their alerts. One of the beneficiaries, Suleiman Luqman Onoruoyiza, a 400-level Computer Science student, stated that the support alleviated his financial stress and enabled him to concentrate more on his studies.
Meanwhile, CUSTECH recently welcomed top TV journalist Babajide Kolade Otitoju and his team from Television Continental (TVC) for a media tour of the campus. The visit aimed to showcase the progress and development taking place in the school, thanks to the efforts of the Kogi State Government. Otitoju, impressed by the transformation of the university just five years after its founding, noted that the quality of the ongoing projects demonstrated a serious commitment to quality education. He visited several buildings, including the nearly completed Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Law, and the Senate Building. He also spoke with students in their hostels. Professor Salawu thanked Otitoju and his team for helping to share the story of CUSTECH’s growth and praised Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo for his support of education and infrastructure in the state. The tour also had other top officials, including the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development and the university’s Director of Physical Planning.
