60,000 Teachers to Gather in Lagos For Education Conference

Over 60,000 teachers from across Nigeria are expected to converge in Lagos this September for the historic ‘Let There Be Teachers’ Conference 2025, the largest gathering of educators ever in Africa.

Scheduled for September 20 at the iconic Tafawa Balewa Square, this event is set to redefine the role of teachers in shaping the future of education in Nigeria.

Organised by 1 Million Teachers, the conference aims to address critical challenges in the education sector, including low salaries, the digital divide, and teacher recruitment.

It is also essential to equip teachers with skills in collaboration, creativity, communication, and critical thinking, which are vital for today’s rapidly evolving education landscape.

The conference has gained strong backing from influential figures, including Oluwaseyi Anifowose, a leading advocate for education transformation in Nigeria, and Hakeem Subair, the founder of 1 Million Teachers.

With the support of key partners, the event is poised to spark crucial conversations and break a Guinness World Record for the largest-ever gathering of teachers.

In a press briefing ahead of the conference, experts discussed the pressing issues facing teachers.

Registration is ongoing, and the conference promises to be a defining moment for Nigeria’s education sector.
