Babcock University Debunks Misconduct Allegation Against Vice-Chancellor Candidate

Babcock University has dismissed allegations circulating online that a candidate for Vice-Chancellor, Afolarin Ojewole, was involved in past sexual misconduct. In a statement, the university labelled the claims as false, malicious, baseless and “fabricated attempt to tarnish reputations” and disrupt its transparent leadership selection process.

The university emphasised that no complaints or disciplinary actions have ever been filed against Ojewole, stating that the so-called Apostles Seventh-Day Adventist advocacy group and its coordinator, Samson Fasasi, are unknown to the school.  The school went on to state that Ojewole’s 2018 leave was due to family responsibilities abroad, and not because of any scandal.

Babcock also rejected the accusation that the selection process is being manipulated to favour Ojewole, reaffirming that the Search Committee operates under strict ethical and spiritual standards, in line with Church and national policies.
