Buni Approves New Integrated Science College

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has approved the creation of the Mai Mala Buni College of Integrated Science (MMB-CIS) in Damaturu. The new school will merge modern education with Islamic values, a model already working in Malaysia and Indonesia.

Announcing the development, Prof. Adam Idriss, Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, stated that the state government has allocated 100 hectares of land near Bukar Abba Ibrahim Housing Estate, along Potiskum Road, for the project.

The college will offer a unified curriculum that combines Islamic and conventional subjects, with lessons taught in both English and Arabic. It is expected to produce graduates who are academically sound, morally upright, and globally competitive.

According to government plans, the institution aims to help reduce the number of out-of-school children, preserve Islamic heritage, and prepare students for both local and international opportunities. A steering committee, led by Prof. Idriss, has been established to oversee the college’s establishment.
