A coalition of education rights activists has urged Nigeria’s anti-graft agencies to investigate procurement irregularities at the Universal Basic Education Commission following growing concerns over contract mismanagement.
The coalition demanded that the UBEC Executive Secretary step aside while investigations proceed. At a press briefing, President Odoh Dave warned that systemic procurement irregularities could undermine trust in the agency. He called for an‑in-depth audit of contracts, appointments, and procurement decisions made under the current administration, suggesting resignation if misconduct is proven. The coalition emphasised that transparency in UBEC operations is essential for maintaining integrity in the nation’s basic education drive.
