CSJ Advocates for Research Institute Funding

The Centre for Social Justice (CSJ) has urged the Federal Government (FG) to fund the research institutes in the country.

This came after the FG imported 2,000 tractors from Belarus.

Speaking at a national workshop organised by the body, Eze Onyekpere, the director, questioned the FG for neglecting local research outputs.

Additionally, he noted that the lack of funding for research institutes affects agricultural productivity and hinders the institutes’ ability to combat pests and diseases that harm crops.

Onyekpere said research outcomes should not be abandoned or left in academic journals.

Instead, they must be transformed into real-world solutions to meet farmers’ needs and improve Nigeria’s food system.
