A dispute has broken out between the Delta State Ministry of Secondary Education and the Post Primary Education Board (PPEB) over staff postings in public schools.
The ministry accused the board of disregarding its authority after both bodies issued separate and conflicting directives on the redeployment of teaching and non-teaching staff. While the ministry transferred some workers to new schools, PPEB reportedly released its own list of postings that contradicted the ministry’s orders.
In a notice that was issued on September 11, 2025, the ministry directed principals to enforce its transfer instructions, warning that any teacher or principal who failed to comply would face sanctions.
Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu, expressed concern that some teachers were still in their old schools despite being officially redeployed. She vowed that offenders would be punished under civil service rules.
The clash has created confusion within Delta’s school system, raising questions about overlapping powers between the ministry and PPEB.
