Over 1,000 students of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, can now heave a sigh of relief as the Edo State government has resolved their long-standing admission irregularities with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
For years, the affected students — some dating back to the 2017 admission cycle — were unable to print admission letters, a requirement for mobilisation into the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). Many had even graduated since 2020 but were stuck without clearance. The breakthrough occurred after the Edo State Ministry of Education directly engaged with JAMB’s management, resulting in a resolution of the matter. The agreement now allows the students to regularise their admissions and proceed with NYSC.
Edo State Commissioner for Education, Dr Paddy Iyamu, and JAMB Registrar, Prof. Isaq Oloyede, met in Abuja to seal the arrangement. The intervention ends years of frustration for the students, restoring their hope of joining peers in national service.
