The Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, Professor Joseph Ayodele, says engineering and technology remain the strongest tools for addressing the global challenge of climate change.
He remarked while declaring open the 5th International Conference of the University’s Faculty of Engineering in Ado-Ekiti.
Professor Ayodele said practical engineering interventions and technological innovation are vital for tackling the effects of climate change. He added that rhetoric must give way to science-driven action capable of safeguarding the environment.
The Vice Chancellor commended the Faculty of Engineering for its commitment to research, innovation, and discipline, describing it as a model within the University system. He noted that EKSU continues to invest in modern laboratories, collaborative research, and industrial linkages to align with global standards.
He also congratulated Dr Omojola Awogbemi, one of the institution’s scholars, recently ranked among the top two per cent of scientists globally in energy research.
Earlier, the Dean of the Faculty, Professor I.B. Oluwafemi, said the conference theme, “Advancing Engineering and Technology for a Resilient and Sustainable Future,” reflected the need for local solutions to environmental challenges.
Over 80 research papers were presented at the conference.
