FCT Students Trained in Vocational and Tech Skills

At least 100 senior secondary school students in Abuja have completed a training programme in vocational and technological skills organised by the National Senior Secondary Education Commission (NSSEC).

The two-week scheme, which ended on Thursday, was part of the Commission’s 2025 Long Vacation Skills Acquisition initiative.

NSSEC’s Executive Secretary, Dr Iyela Ajayi, represented by Mohammed Salihu, said the aim was to equip young Nigerians with practical skills to enhance self-reliance and prepare them for the future. Students were trained in areas including solar panel installation, CCTV fitting, robotics, plumbing, catering and painting.

Ajayi said the programme was in line with government efforts to expand technical and vocational education, adding that such schemes would help tackle unemployment and promote national development.

Parents at the event praised the initiative and called for more support from the government and the private sector to sustain similar projects.
