The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to providing free education in all Federal Technical Colleges (FTCs) nationwide.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Ministry of Education announced that the government will fully cover tuition and approved charges, including boarding, uniforms, textbooks, medical care, and vocational training. Students in boarding schools are required only to provide personal items.
Education Minister Maruf Tunji Alausa warned that principals and administrators must not impose unauthorised levies. He urged parents to report illegal demands through hotlines or email provided by the ministry.
The initiative forms part of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as a tool for human capital development. “No Nigerian child should be denied access to technical education because of illegal charges,” Mr Alausa said.
The ministry added that monitoring systems are in place to ensure compliance and protect the free education policy.
