Abia State Governor Alex Otti has lifted the 10-year ban on staff promotions at Dr Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, formerly known as Abia Polytechnic, Aba. The ban was placed by the previous administration.
According to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ukoha Njoku, the governor also approved the release of all outstanding promotions for staff. He cancelled the unpopular “National Promotions” system in the school.
The staff of the polytechnic expressed their gratitude to the governor for fulfilling his promise to pay the 33 months of salary arrears owed by the former government. They also praised him for paying their current salaries regularly. The workers thanked Governor Otti for improving infrastructure and working to raise the academic standard of the institution. This decision has brought renewed hope and motivation to the school’s workforce, as they look forward to a better working environment and a brighter future.
