The 12th All-Nigeria Universities Debating Championship has ended, and three schools came out on top. Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) won the Debate category, the University of Uyo (UNIUYO) took first place in the Quiz competition, and the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) excelled in the Public Speaking category. A UNILORIN student, Adediran Timothy, was also named the overall Public Speaking Champion for his powerful and convincing presentation.
The championship, which began in 2013, brings together students from universities across Nigeria to build their confidence, critical thinking abilities, and leadership skills. It also gets the students ready for bigger competitions like the Pan African Universities Debating Championship and the World Universities Debating Championship.
This year’s winners clearly demonstrate the strength of the schools, and it also proves that the debate championship is helping to raise and prepare young Nigerians who will become leaders tomorrow.
