Thomas Adewumi University (TAU), Oko-Irese, Kwara State, has held its maiden convocation, producing 26 pioneer graduates, including six first-class students.
Licensed by the federal government in April 2021 and commencing academic activities a month later, TAU has quickly grown to offer 27 accredited programmes across seven faculties. The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Francisca Oladipo, described the university as a rising hub for science, technology, engineering, medicine, and innovation.
The convocation was also an opportunity to showcase TAU’s sustainability drive, with its solar farm powering both the campus and the host community.
The event featured a lecture by Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State on the future of work in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, as well as a speech by Namibia’s High Commissioner, Humphrey Geiseb, to the gathering. In addition, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State laid the foundation for a new Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences building. The milestone marks TAU’s firm entry into Nigeria’s higher education landscape.
