The Public and Private Development Centre (PPDC) has urged the Nigerian government to restructure the education system to meet global standards. The call was made by PPDC CEO Lucy Abagi in Abuja during a visit from the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), who also presented her with an honorary award for promoting good governance.
Abagi, in her speech, stressed that Nigerian youths are talented and innovative, but they contend with numerous challenges, including poverty and difficulty paying school fees. She said governments must take practical, not just paper-based, steps to support students and create platforms for them to thrive.
She added that the award reflected the students’ commitment to transparency and accountability, values she champions for national development.
Salamatu Dawood, chairperson of the NANS FCT chapter, noted the recognition celebrated Abagi’s persistent advocacy for justice, openness, and good governance, highlighting the link between education, youth empowerment, and national progress.
