Professor Calls for Constitution Review

Akinjide Osuntokun, an Emeritus Professor of History and Strategic Studies at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), has called for a review of Nigeria’s constitution.

He stated this while delivering a keynote speech at the launch of the Memorial Leadership Lecture Series in honour of Oduola Osuntokun, the Osuntokun Family Patriarch and former Regional Minister.

Osuntokun highlighted that the step will end the shortcomings of the constitution, adding that the 36 Nigerian states should be restructured into zones.

According to him, if the government agrees with the plan, six states can cater to their own needs while the country has a proper federation.
