Presidency Warns 51 Tertiary Institutions Over Alleged Illegal Deductions from Student Loans

On April 30, 2025, the Presidency issued a stern warning to 51 tertiary institutions implicated in unauthorised deductions from student loans disbursed under the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) scheme.  The institutions allegedly deducted between N20,000 and N40,000 from students’ loan disbursements, actions deemed fraudulent and detrimental to the integrity of the student loan program.
