Mr. Babatunde Ogala, SAN, Chairman of LASU Governing Council
Concerned indigenes of Ikoga-Zebbe, Badagry, Lagos, have petitioned the Chairman of Lagos State University (LASU) Governing Council, Mr Babatunde Ogala, SAN, over the alleged wrongful dismissal of Dr Tony Dansu and four other lecturers. The lecturers were reportedly dismissed in 2017 and 2019.
In the letter, signed by community leaders, the group congratulated Ogala on his appointment. It urged him to ensure justice by reinstating the affected lecturers, paying all accrued entitlements, and granting deserved promotions without loss of seniority.
The indigenes accused the state government of imposing an embargo on the February 2022 decision of the LASU Governing Council that approved the lecturers’ reinstatement.
They recalled that the immediate past council, in July 2025, upheld recommendations of its Appeals Committee to formalise the reinstatement and submit it as a binding consent judgment to the Industrial Court.
Despite the council’s directive, five months on, the petitioners said no action has been taken. They stressed that their ongoing advocacy—including peaceful rallies, press statements, and letters to authorities- aims to end the alleged victimisation and ensure compliance with LASU’s earlier decisions.
The group urged Ogala and relevant authorities to expedite implementation, warning that continued inaction undermines justice and institutional integrity.
