The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan (UI), Prof. Kayode Adebowale, has called on young academics to model their careers after the values of diligence, honesty, and reliability exemplified by the late Prof. Olusola Ezekiel Ayoola, former Deputy Vice Chancellor.
He made the call during the 46th Annual Quantum Probability Conference (QP46), held in honour of Ayoola’s 70th birthday and retirement from the institution. The event, which took place at the university’s Digital Park, drew academics from across the country, as well as Ayoola’s family and colleagues.
Represented by the current DVC (Administration), Prof. Peter Olapegba, the Vice-Chancellor described Ayoola as a distinguished scholar, community leader, and dependable administrator. He noted that Ayoola’s commitment to the university and society stands as a model for younger academics.
Adebowale concluded by encouraging emerging scholars to uphold virtues such as character and integrity, noting that these remain vital to sustaining the institution’s excellence.
