The University of Lagos Alumni Association is set to honour one of Nigeria’s most respected legal figures, Wole Olanipekun, for his decades-long contribution to law, governance, and education reform.
Olanipekun, who serves as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the university, will receive the association’s highest honour — the Alumni Platinum Award — at a ceremony on Friday, October 17 2025, at Eko Hotels & Suites, Lagos.
The event, chaired by Dr Sonny Kuku, will have Vice President Kashim Shettima as Special Guest of Honour. At the same time, the Alumni President Worldwide, Engineer Ifeoluwa Ayodele, will serve as Chief Host.
A former President of the Nigerian Bar Association and ex-Chairman of the Body of Benchers, Olanipekun has been central to several landmark cases that shaped Nigeria’s jurisprudence.
He founded Wole Olanipekun & Co. in 1980, one of Nigeria’s leading law firms, and has previously chaired the governing councils of the University of Ibadan and Ajayi Crowther University.
The Alumni Association said the award recognises “a lifetime of excellence and leadership in the service of law and education.”
