UNN Partners with Taiwan to Boost Global Academic Reach

The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), has taken a significant step toward strengthening its international presence by entering into a new partnership with the Taiwanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Vice-Chancellor, Prof Simeon Uchenna Ortuanya, disclosed on Thursday that the agreement, sealed during a working visit to Asia, includes the establishment of the Taiwan Centre for Academic Exchanges at UNN.

According to him, the collaboration will enhance academic cooperation across information technology, research, and faculty development. It will also open opportunities for student and staff exchange programmes, scholarships, Mandarin language training, and cultural immersion initiatives.

Ortuanya noted that the partnership will not only boost research capacity but also integrate Taiwanese teaching innovations into UNN’s academic system.

He described the move as a strategic step toward restoring UNN’s global standing, saying it would “ensure the Lion roars again with renewed excellence, relevance and visibility on the international stage.”
