The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) will graduate 11,886 students during its 40th Convocation Ceremonies, coinciding with the institution’s Golden Jubilee Anniversary.
Vice Chancellor, Prof Wahab Egbewole (SAN), announced this during a press briefing on Monday, noting that 316 students earned First Class honours, 4,120 Second Class Upper, 5,939 Second Class Lower, 1,078 Third Class, and 11 Pass degrees. He added that the ceremony will feature 1,520 postgraduate awardees, including 234 PhD holders.
Highlighting the occasion’s significance, Egbewole said the event marks “50 years of academic distinction, innovation, and service to humanity.” He commended the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) for ₦2.56 billion intervention in infrastructure, ICT, and staff development, alongside additional projects worth ₦5.05 billion. Egbewole also disclosed that 12,983 students benefitted from ₦1.59 billion under the Federal Government’s Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), ensuring no student drops out due to financial hardship. He reaffirmed the university’s commitment to producing skilled, value-driven graduates capable of driving national and global development.
